About Dr. Holloway

Michelle KP

Dr. Kenika Holloway is a licensed professional counselor with 19 years of experience. She holds a Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision with a focus on Marriage and Family Therapy, as well as a Master’s degree in Community Counseling, both from Mercer University. Dr. Holloway is also a graduate of Florida A&M University, where she majored in Spanish and minored in Anthropology.

As the owner of Activating Wellness Within, a private practice, Dr. Holloway helps adults and couples navigate life's challenges while fostering positive transformation. She is deeply committed to guiding individuals toward greater insight into their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, supporting them as they evolve into the people they aspire to be. With a foundation in both psychology and spirituality, Dr. Holloway integrates spiritual principles into her counseling approach, empowering clients to align their mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Her focus is on promoting holistic wellness and self-discovery.

Dr. Holloway also enjoys helping couples build healthy, loving partnerships through premarital counseling, ongoing relationship workshops, and coaching. She has a particular interest in early attachment and its lasting impact on romantic relationships. Her work is informed by both psychological theory and spiritual practices, helping clients to not only heal but thrive in their personal and relational lives.

In addition to her work with couples, Dr. Holloway leads The Adjustment Chapter, an eight-week grief group specifically designed for women navigating the loss of a loved one. The group provides a supportive space for participants to share hope, strength, and courage as they move through their grief journey. Dr. Holloway also has extensive experience working with individuals facing a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, life transitions, adult ADHD, work/life balance, depression, infidelity, parental stress, and women's issues.

A sought-after speaker, Dr. Holloway has presented at both state and international conferences, including the World Family Therapy Congress in Málaga, Spain. She has also served as an adjunct professor at Mercer University and taught Spanish.

Dr. Holloway enjoys leading trainings on various topics, such as financial stress and mental health, communication, relationship challenges, grief, and nurturing non-romantic relationships. Her recent workshops include Unveiling Your Financial Mindset, which explores the often-overlooked relationship people have with money, and Good Grief: I Still Gotta Deal with Him/Her, which addresses co-parenting and navigating life after separation.

In May 2024, Dr. Holloway launched AWW Better Baskets, a self-care initiative featuring her signature sugar scrubs paired with inspirational messages to encourage mindfulness and self-love. Outside of her professional life, she is the proud mother of two teenage sons and enjoys ziplining, writing, traveling, gardening, reading, living a healthy lifestyle, and exploring her creativity.

One of Dr. Holloway’s special achievements is the creation of her talk show, Healing Conversations, which airs on JPRG Radio. In 2019, Dr. Holloway was approached by a colleague to collaborate on streaming live content about mental health and relationships. Though initially terrified of putting herself out there on social media, Dr. Holloway took the leap. After some early technical challenges, the project ended, leaving her relieved but also with a sense of unfinished business. In 2022, fate intervened when Dr. Holloway met the CEO of JPRG Radio, who invited her to host a talk show on his station. After much prayer and reflection, Dr. Holloway embraced the opportunity. She worked on refining her vision and purpose for the show, and in October 2023, Healing Conversations debuted. The show has quickly become a platform where Dr. Holloway can reach a broader audience, helping individuals with mental health and relationship topics in a way that resonates with many. Every Wednesday at 1:30 PM EST, Healing Conversations brings together a diverse range of guests to discuss the two things everyone must navigate: their own mental health and the relationships they build with others.

Through her work, Dr. Holloway continues to empower individuals and families to unlock their full potential and achieve wellness in all areas of life to ~Be Well.
