“Be The Light”

With Delphine

Delphine was born in a country town called Newsoms, Virginia, where she was an active farm girl.

At the age of eight, her family moved to Maryland. She resided in Maryland until she was married in l978 when she moved to North Carolina.

Delphine has been in the banking business for more than 20 years and has a passion for mending different types of fabric into exclusive creations.

She was a building inspector in the 1980s where she obtained her building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, heating, and gas licenses through the NC Code Officials Qualification Board.

Delphine’s background includes the participation of being involved in several pageants where she was known as Ms. Congeniality, Miss Photogenic, Miss Young Teen, among being the queen of proms throughout her high school years.

She also held a point guard position on her high school basketball team averaging twelve points per game.

Additionally, Delphine was a great gymnast who was active on the balance beam, uneven bars, as well as the best tumbler of her time on the floor exercise.

Being freed from an abusive relationship of 36 years of marriage, which involved transitioning from being controlled to being in control all while coping with the costs of a domestic life filled with anxiety, trepidation, and devastation, Delphine is embodied by the heart and mind of the Almighty, and she has a fervent desire to serve Him.

She often exclaimed, “The pain and embarrassment that I experienced from domestic abuse should not be lessened, but it is not the centerpiece or core of my identity.”

She feels that the involvement of her skirmishes were steppingstones that have been used to help other men and women who may be going through the same struggles.

God has laid the groundwork and has flung the door of opportunity open for the next chapter of her life to be a part of JPRG Radio to share her story and inspiration.

“The gem cannot be polished without friction, nor man perfected without trials.” – Chinese Proverb
